Born in 1990, French conductor Pierre Mosnier has seen his career flourish in recent years on some of Europe’s most prestigious opera stages. Particularly interested in opera and the French repertoire, he served as Susanna Mälkki’s assistant conductor for Claude Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande at the 2024 Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Impressed by his work, the Finnish conductor subsequently chose him as her assistant conductor in 2025 for the new production of Gabriel Fauré’s Pénélope at the Bayerische Staatsoper.

In 2026, he was invited back by the Bayerische Staatsoper as assistant conductor for the new production of Gounod’s Faust, alongside Nathalie Stutzmann. He will reunite with the French conductor for Massenet’s Werther at the Opéra National de Paris in 2027. In 2026, he also collaborated with Adrien Perruchon on the revival of La Fille du Régiment at the Opéra de Tours.

From 2022 to 2025, Pierre Mosnier was assistant conductor of the Orchestre National de France, where he took part, among other projects, in the recordings of the complete symphonies of Georges Enesco (Deutsche Grammophon) and the complete orchestral works of Maurice Ravel (Naïve). During this period, he worked alongside leading international artists including Diana Damrau, Stéphanie d’Oustrac, Renaud Capuçon, Daniil Trifonov and Julia Fischer.

Recognized for his expertise in both the symphonic and operatic repertoires, he is regularly invited to conduct ensembles such as the Orchestre National de Mulhouse, the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Tours, the Orchestre Les Ondes Plurielles, the Orchestre Colonne and, since 2024, the Orchestre Lamoureux, with which he has returned every year since. In 2025, he made his debut with the Orchestre National Avignon-Provence.

In 2022, he founded the "Les Musicales d’été" festival in Le Croisic (France), bringing together international soloists and instrumentalists from France’s leading orchestras for a week of concerts featuring chamber music, symphonic programmes and major opera evenings.

A close associate of Georges Prêtre, who supported him from the very beginning of his career, Pierre Mosnier studied in Paris before continuing his training with renowned conductors including Neeme Järvi, Paavo Järvi, Tugan Sokhiev and Cristian Măcelaru.
