Singer Tenor

Florian Stern

Long Version

Born in Berlin, Florian Stern studied singing with Scot Weir and Werner Güra. His current vocal coach is Linda Watson.

Florian Stern has been a member of the ensemble at the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck for 10 years and has performed there in over 40 productions. He stands out not only as a singer but also as an actor. Proof of this is his nomination for the Austrian Music Theatre Award (Österreichischer Musiktheaterpreis) as Best Leading Actor 2022 in the production of The Lighthouse in the role of Sandy. He has also recently celebrated his greatest successes with roles such as Herodes (Salome - mention Opernglas 03/22), Golo (Genoveva), Walter (Die Passagierin) or as the Tsarevich in the operetta of the same name. In 2022/23 he made his successful debut, also in Innsbruck, in the roles of Dimitrij (Boris Godunow) and Aegisth (Elektra).

Outside Innsbruck, he also took on roles such as Lysander (Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream), Sam (Carlisle Floyd's Susannah) and Mozart (Rimsky-Korsakov's Mozart and Salieri), as well as in operettas roles such as Jan Janicki (Der Bettelstudent) or Sandor Boris (Die Herzogin von Chicago).

Florian Stern was most recently a guest at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Student Wittenberg and Leutenant in Busoni's Doktor Faust) and at the Staatstheater Mainz (Walter in Die Passagierin).

Concert roles sung include Messiah by Handel, The Creation by Haydn, the Requiem by Mozart, the Missa Solemnis and the Symphony No. 9 by Beethoven, Elijah and Paulus by Mendelssohn.

Slowly but surely, Florian Stern's voice is developing into the repertoire of youthful Heldentenor repertoire and he is currently studying roles such as Max (Der Freischütz), Hans (Die verkaufte Braut), Erik (Der fliegende Holländer), Parsifal (title role) and Idomeneo (title role).
