Songs of courtly love

The most recent research on the Middle Ages thinks Walther von der Vogelweide to originate from a part of today's Austria. Therefore, Salzburg born Peter Sonn is not only an artistically ideal cast for this role but also a historically authentic one.

In his role of Walther in the new production of Wagner's "Tannhäuser", Peter Sonn is now engaged in his second premiere at the Berlin State Opera in the Schillertheater. However, this time he will sing under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim. Stage direction and choreography are by Saha Waltz, his partners will be Peter Seiffert in the title role, René Pape als Landgraf Hermann, Pter Mattei as Wolfram von Eschenbach and Ann Petersen as Elisabeth.
