Premiere at the Volksoper

Lortzing's masterful light opera "Der Wildschütz", central repertoire of the Volksoper, will be newly staged.

Dietrich W. Hilsdorf presents his point of view of this Biedermeier-type piece in three acts and Alfred Eschwé  - established in a manifold variety of music and style - takes over the conductor's stand. The premiere on 20 April will be followed by several other performances with a changing cast until mid-June. Lars Woldt and Andreas Daum will alternate in the title role of the unhappy schoolmaster Baculus who shot his own donkey instead of a ram.

Also in the coming season at the Volksloper, Alfred Eschwé will be in charge of a new production at the Gürtel will rehearse the Johann Strauß operetta "Eine Nacht in Venedig".
