A successful Fricka in Meiningen

A few weeks ago, Marianne Schechtel made her role debut as Fricka at the Staatstheater Meiningen in the new production of Das Rheingold (conducted by Killian Farrell and directed by Markus Lüpertz), captivating both the audience and the press. Here are some press excerpts:

"Marianne Schechtel impresses as a beautifully toned, almost girlish Fricka." (OMM.de, Stefan Schmöe, March 27, 2026)

"Marianne Schechtel as a refreshingly feisty and dashing goddess-princess Fricka" (Opernnews, Roland H. Dippel, March 27, 2026)

"Marianne Schechtel's Fricka impressed with tonal beauty and freshness." (Seen and Heard International, Andreas Bücker, April 2, 2026)

“Marianne Schechtel portrays Fricka as a character who knows how to give Wotan a piece of her mind and urge him to action. Her mezzo-soprano voice conveys warmth even in fortissimo.” (Peter E. Rytz Review, April 4, 2026)

Marianne Schechtel will reunite with Fricka when the production will be revived in Meiningen in 2026/27.
