Katherine Broderick is acclaimed for her expressive range and versatility across repertoire spanning intimate lieder recitals, major orchestral works and leading Wagner roles. In 2025 she was nominated for Best Female Main Role at the Austrian Musiktheaterpreis for her portrayal of Brünnhilde in Götterdämmerung in Stadttheater Klagenfurt’s Ring cycle. She subsequently returned to Klagenfurt to make her acclaimed debut as Isolde in a new production of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde.

Her operatic repertoire includes Brünnhilde (Die Walküre,Siegfried, Götterdämmerung), Sieglinde (Die Walküre), Ortlinde, Helmwige and Woglinde (Die Walküre), Adriana Lecouvreur (title role), Leonore (Fidelio), Elsa (Lohengrin), Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito), Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Alice Ford (Falstaff), the Primadonna (Ariadne auf Naxos), Lady Billows (Albert Herring), Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw), Mrs Coyle (Owen Wingrave), as well as Contessa and Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro).

She has appeared at leading opera houses and festivals including The Royal Opera House London (Covent Garden), English National Opera, Glyndebourne, Garsington Opera, Opera North, Opéra de Paris, Opéra-Comique, Opéra national de Montpellier, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and Oper Leipzig.

A committed recital artist, she collaborates regularly with pianists including Malcolm Martineau, Julius Drake, Simon Lepper, Joseph Middleton, James Baillieu, and Gary Matthewman, and has appeared at venues and festivals such as Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square, and the Oxford International Song Festival. She broadcasts frequently on BBC Radio 3.

Her concert repertoire includes Mahler's Symphonies Nos. 2, 4 and 8, Rückert-LiederLieder eines fahrenden Gesellen and Des Knaben Wunderhorn, Mendelssohn Elijah and Lobgesang, Britten's Spring Symphony and War Requiem, Berlioz' Les nuits d’été, Berg's Sieben frühe Lieder and  Wozzeck fragments, Strauss Vier letzte Lieder and Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder. She has performed with orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Hallé, the BBC orchestras, Ulster Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

Her discography includes Vaughan Williams A Sea Symphony (Hallé / Mark Elder), Mendelssohn Lieder with Eugene Asti (Hyperion), Britten Songs with Malcolm Martineau (Onyx), Schumann Lieder with Graham Johnson (Hyperion), Mussorgsky Songs with Sergei Rybin (Stone Records), Songs for the Turn of a Century with Malcolm Martineau (Champs Hill) as well as a recording of the complete version of The Turn of the Screw (LSO Live), Die Walküre and Götterdämmerung (Hallé / Mark Elder);

Winner of the Kathleen Ferrier Award and the Gold Medal of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Katherine Broderick studied at the Guildhall before attending the National Opera Studio. Originally from Saddleworth, she is now based in Edinburgh.
